High above and west of Altoona, Pennsylvania, Wopsononock Mountain became the site of a thriving late-nineteenth-century resort, featuring a grand mountaintop hotel, numerous cottages, an observation tower, and the narrow-gauge Wopsy Railroad that transported visitors to the summit from Juniata.
